What is the process?
The coaching approach that I use combines my years of study and experience in Psychology, Counseling, Neuro-Linguistic-Programming, Hypnosis, Sales-Management, and Sales. I come to each session with an abundance of interest, energy, and wonder. Coaching is fun-filled work. After all we are supporting you in the creation of your ideal life.
My style of coaching is grounded in clear and open communication aimed at clarifying your needs, wants, preferences, values, ideas, perceptions, feelings, thoughts, imaginings, and styles of relating. We formulate goals, objectives, creative solutions, action plans, while we clear away obstacles and evaluate progress. Throughout our time together you will discover new and interesting things about yourself, others, and life. I will guide you through questions, challenges, and summaries of what you discover about yourself and your personal and professional growth. Each coaching session builds toward the next as you make progress toward your goals.
We will work at constructing an over-all vision for your life and design ways to achieve this design. During each session we will examine your progress, claim your successes and work to clear away any obstacles interfering with to your progress. The level of trust that we develop with each other will allow you to bring to the coaching sessions whatever is important to you to discuss.
What do we focus on?
Our coaching sessions flow from whatever is happening in your life right now (in and out of work). We focus on gaining clarity of what you want, staying centered as you step outside your comfort zone, developing healthy boundaries, interacting well with others, creating a community you love to be apart of, communicating better with others, and moving forward toward a big goal that turns you on. A central interest of mine is not only what you are accomplishing and how you are going about doing it, but also, ”who you are becoming in the process” as you move forward in all of the areas of your life that you are focusing on.
What is the difference between Coaching and Therapy?
Coaching is a personal learning experience. It is a process used for creating momentum, accomplishing goals, gaining new understandings about yourself, and developing new skills and greater self-confidence. Coaching is not therapy. Though coaching is of a highly personal nature and individuals do experience greater self-awareness, its focus is on achievement, optimal performance, self-growth, and fun. Therapy, one the other hand, focuses on healing past emotional wounds and/or learning how to live more functionally and/or learning how to better cope with a mental illness. Some coaching clients work with their coach while also working with a counselor (and vic versa), but a coach does not offer both services with the same client at the same time. A coach supports their client in the process of building up a personal team of professionals (i.e, accountants, lawyers, counselors, etc.) when problems arise where specialist are needed so that the client can continue to move forward in accomplishing their goals.
What can you expect from me?
You can expect that I will be professional, punctual, and deeply respectful of your inner thoughts, feelings, and concerns. In return, I expect that you will be professional, punctual, and respectful of me and the work that we do together.
We will meet on a regular basis, two to three times a month for fifty-minute individual coaching sessions. At the beginning of each session we will review accomplishments made since our last session as well as things that you did not get done. We then set an agenda for the session, which consists of whatever is important to you to discuss with me. I “really listen to you” and then I ask you questions. I check in for understanding, probe, and then we share our thoughts on the matter. Often we will look at an issue from many points of view. From there we determine where to go next. If you are facing an obstacle (internal or external) we discuss it and then work to determine the quickest way to get through it so that you are constantly moving forward. The strategy that you ultimately decide on will be one that you believe will move you the furthest. We then review how things went with the strategy that you implemented and determine whether it was successful or whether a different strategy is needed as well as explore what you had learned from the experience and how you have grown from it.
We gain clarity of your vision for your career and your life in general. We prioritize your goals and determine where you want to focus your attention and your activity. We often explore the source of your goals as well as the obstacles you are facing. We explore how successfully you are getting your needs met and we work to uncover your value system. Often, we will examine whether or not you are living with integrity to your personal value system or whether you are conflicted about your values. We examine beliefs that you have about yourself and/or your business and if appropriate we work at changing the beliefs that hold you back from being the person you really want to be and accomplishing the goals that you really want to accomplish. We work at simplifying things and we try to turn everything that you do into some sort of game that you love to play (believe it or not, you can have a lot of fun in your life while accomplishing big goals). We will often chart your progress and we will always discuss your successes. We will process what you have learned and then together we will look for the next opportunity for growth and achievement.
How much does it cost and how long does it last?
Coaching is a process linked together by conversations and actions. Many believe that it is the difference that makes the difference. If you believe that being listened to, deeply heard and understood, supported, challenged, taught, and guided by a professional with over seventeen years experience studying and supporting human excellence, then give yourself one of the greatest gifts you can and hire me as your coach. Where do you want to grow? Who do you want to become? What is your big dream? The one you don’t talk about with many people because you know it is the road less traveled and yet you still want it bad, you know it is going to require risk, focus, persistence, determination, creativity, and the best of you in order to achieve it.
My current standard fees are:
$125 Personal Development (or Leadership Development) Tele-Coaching Session
$125 (my office) Coaching Session
Most clients work with me two to three times a month for about six months. Some work with me for many years. I only work with you if you are gaining value. Ultimately my coaching clients end up becoming their own best coach.
