What is Psychotherapy/Counseling?
Psychotherapy is a "confidential" professional process that people engage in with a psychologist for the purpose of experiencing healing and relief from their emotional wounds and learn how to better cope with the problems that interfere with living a joyful life.  Psychotherapy is "talk-therapy."

What are some common reasons people seek counseling?
  • Feelings of Depression / Sadness / Melancholy / Grief / Bereavement / Anxiety / Panic / Social Anxiety / Nervousness / Stress / Anger / Work-related problems / Normal Developmental Life Changes (e.g. transitions to new school, new career, marriage, relocation, lay offs, etc.)
  • Romantic Relationship Issues / General Relationship Issues / Family conflict / Divorce / Family of origin issues / Parenting issues
  • Sexual concerns
  • Identity issues
  • Existential / Spiritual Concerns (e.g. making meaning out of life circumstances)
  • Adjustment to physical and chronic illness / Adjustment to chronic pain / Adjustment to emotional, social, or physical trauma
  • Career confusion / dissatisfaction
  • Addiction / Substance Dependence / Substance Abuse / Eating Disorders
  • Problematic personality patterns that interfere with relationships and work
  • Attention / hyperactivity issues
How much does therapy cost?
Our current standard fee is:
$125 per session (50 minutes).

If you are planning on using your insurance to cover the cost of therapy, please contact your "behavioral health insurance carrier" and find out what percentage of the fee they will cover for an out-of-network licensed psychologist.  At the end of each therapy session you will be provided a bill for the session.  You will be expected to pay for each session at this time.  Please pay by writing a check to Paul E. Dunn, Psy.D..  You will then be able to send a copy of the bill to your insurance carrier and they will reimburse you the amount that they will cover.  Most insurance carriers will cover about 80% of the fee.
